Nightclubs In Kiev

Since Ukraine's Independence 1n 1991 Kiev (or Kyiv as the locals say) has seen an explosion of cool sophisticated and ever more expensive nightclubs.

Kiev is a party capital which is steadily gaining in popularity with western visitors. Inevitably the opportunity to help western foreigners spend their cash has attracted many students and working girls, giving Kiev the unwanted tag of sex capital of Europe.

Most of the clubs and nightlife are centred around Independence square and Khreschatyk street. But there are also some excellent clubs a short taxi ride away from the centre if you are willing to seek them out.

Generally nightclubs in Kiev are very safe but there are a few things that
you should be made aware of. Ukraine is not part of the EEC, they are
not burdened with human rights and political correctness. What
this means is that if you get drunk or cause trouble, you will very
likely find yourself dealt with severely. Also,
it is quite common for dance clubs to hire professional girls who
perform strip shows, so probably a good idea to leave your mum at home
(although your dad might not complain).

2A Basseinaya Street
Tel:  +380 (44) 4920000
Website

All in one entertainment complex located in the centre of the city near the Bessarabski market. Enjoys a reputation of exclusivity but foreigners are rarely turned away. The complex itself is spread over 4 floors has a variety of restaurants, bars, strip club and a nightclub. The nightclub is another popular hang out for Kiev's "lazy girls" looking for foreigners who have cash to burn.As of June 2012 the price of entry to Arena Stars nightclub was 200 UAH. Not a big place but well run and friendly. This is billed as glitzy and glamorous, relatively expensive by Kiev standards but a good atmosphere and stunning women. The reality is that this is the place is for people who like to splash their cash, and girls who enjoy helping you spend it. Not much to complain about here and well worth a visit.

Open 22:00 - 06:00  Closed Monday

Club Ajour

Situated in the Avalon multi entertainment complex this place is definitely different and almost surreal. If you like music from the 60's to the 80's and like dancing with Kiev girls then why not give this place a go. To be honest I can't quite figure this place out but if you are looking for something different then here it is.
Open 20:00 - 06:00

Babyface DJ bar

Babyface DJ Bar
  Percheska
44 Shchorsa Street Kiev (Pechersk District)
Tel: +380( 044) 286 0777
http://www.babyface.com.ua/

This is an ideal club for those wishing to escape from the mainstream tourist clubs in Kiev. It is only a 5 minute drive from Kreshchatyk but not often visited by foreigners. It used to be called the Mecca  club, but fell out of favour with the muslim community and changed it's name.It is a modern club, restaurant and lounge bar separated into 3 main areas. The interior of the club is in the style of rMetro 60's 70's décor and they proudly proclaim that they do not follow any particular style of music. They play  a mix of  pop, electo, R & B, house and ... well anything depending on which DJ is in on that night.
Drinks are reasonably priced, entrance for men is about 80 UAH and is usually packed full of girls as entrance is free for them. Face control is pretty relaxed as they try to appeal to a wide audience and get there name on the map.
Open Monday to Sunday 12:00-05:00

Barsky Club

Barsky
Ploscha Lva Tolstoho
Arena City complex, vul Chernovoarmiyska 5, Lypky , Kyiv
Tel: +380 (044) 496 0606
http://www.barsky-club.com/

Barsky means sky bar (get it) and is part of the complex in the Arena Entertainement complex. It can be found on the 7th floor and has wonderful views over the historical centre of Kiev (Kyiv) they operate strict face control so make the effort to put on some stylish clothes. This is a relatively new club that opened in 2009 and has quickly become popular with see-and-be-seen super hot babes and smart guys in designer labels.
The club has the feeling of decadent luxury, glamour and opulence drip from the velvet black sofas and crystal chandeliers. Cool DJ’s spin electro house and R & B and the place heaves with model types in all their glory. A really good club (if you make it past the face police) but bring plenty of cash.
Open Wednesday to Sunday

Caribbean Club

Caribbean Club
Universytet
4 Kominternu Street
Tel: +38 (044) 244 4290

Do you like salsa and Latin music; want to smoke a big fat Cuban cigar. Or maybe just admire the beautiful girls of Kiev shaking their body to the Latino rhythm. Don't worry if you can't dance, nor can most of the guys here but that is not important.  Actually this is a pretty good club. It is fun and it has a good atmosphere. Not a big place but large enough to lose your friends for a while if you need to. It is a well known place for foreigners, which inevitably attracts Kiev girls who like foreign guys. Had an unbelievably attractive stripper perform in the middle of the dance floor when we were there so probably not the place to take your granny. Good night out so thumbs up from us.
Wednesday is ladies night.

Open 18:00 - 06:00

Cinema Club Kiev

Crystal Hall

Crystal Hall
Arsenal'na
1 Dniprovsky uzviz
Tel: +380 (44) 288 5069
http://crystalhall.com.ua/en/home-en/

Wow! This place is huge. This is one of Kiev's new clubs opened in January 2010 and looks like a lot of money has been thrown at it. Sophisticated sound and lighting, and a huge dance floor. Also claims to have the largest bar in the Ukraine. Attracts lots of friendly girls willing to accept drinks and presents from foreigners. Actually not a bad place and well worth a visit. Can be found just round the corner from the Salute Hotel overlooking the Dnipro River. Thumbs up from us.

D'Lux Club

D*LUX Disco The ParkC
Maidan Nezalezhnosti
01001, Kiev 3 Grushevskoho Street
 Tel: +38 (044) 200 29 91
http://www.dlux.com.ua/about-club/

It is situated half way up the hill from where Dynamo Kiev's football stadium is.

Now this place is not so widely advertised in the free tourist papers to be found in Kiev. The reason for this is quite straightforward. This is a proper dance club and not somewhere just to go to pick up Kiev's lazy girls. The first thing that strikes you is just how classy it is. Beautiful women mingle with Kiev's up and coming successful glitterati. This club applies strict face control and dress code so absolutely no trainers and smart dress only. Entry is quite expensive compared to other clubs in Kiev ( 150 grivna - about  15 euros/ dollars ) but in my opinion money well spelt. You will enter on the ground floor and to your right you will find a place where you can leave your jacket/coat free of charge. If you make your way up to the next floor you will find yourself in a very tasteful bar and restaurant with plenty of seating. Be careful not to sit at one of the reserved tables or you could find yourself in a rather awkward situation.

Next floor up is the Dance floor. As I mentioned, this is a proper dance club. Great sound system, laser lighting and the clubs resident beautiful girls on a small stage shaking their booty.  This place has a great atmosphere and you will soon find yourself getting into the vibe. For an overall view of what is going on you can move up one more level to the next floor and take a peek at the beautiful people below. Classy and elegant, definite thumbs up from us.

Decadence Club

Decadence
  Lva Tolstoho
16 Shota Rustaveli
Tel: +380 (44) 2064920

Another restaurant nightclub with a stylish 18th century art deco interior complete with VIP rooms and valet parking. By day a stylish up market restaurant and by night a sophisticated lounge club. A favourite haunt of rich oligarchs and businessmen looking to flash the cash on pricey drinks and expensive food. This inevitably attracts the local prostitutes and provincial babes looking for rich acquaintances to help you spend that well earned blood money. Ridiculously small dance floor and music is pretty lame. Plenty of wow factor if you can afford the ride.

Disco Radio Hall

Disco Radio Hall
Poshtova Ploscha
Naberezhno-Khresschatyt'ska Street Moorage 6
Tel: +380 (44) 4287388
http://www.disco-club.kiev.ua/afisha/

Ever been to a dance club in the hull of a floating entertainment complex?  If you fancy something different you could make your way to the Podil district and enjoy a night on the river. Have some sushi in the Japanese restaurant before losing yourself to the music below deck. Would suit the slightly older crowd who are still young at heart.

Open 22:00 - 06:00 Sunday is free entry for women

Upmarket and ultra chic club situated in a centuries old fortress creating an image of good taste and sophistication. This club applies very strict face control so get out your finest clothes and polish your shoes. This is a place where the shakers and movers of Kiev frequent. It is free entry if the doorman is happy with you, once inside you will have a wide choice of drinks and an opportunity to part with some of that hard earned cash by purchasing some delicious, but expensive snacks.

Forsage Club

Forsage Club
Shuliavska
51a Harmatna Street
Tel: +380 (44) 406 7600
http://www.forsageclub.com.ua/

Located near the National Aviation Agency this is quite a large club that is popular with the local people of Kiev. Often puts on specialised nights like foam parties which allows for lots of naughty behaviour under the bubbles. This is a mainstream club that plays house music and European disco. Guest DJ's every night of the week and reasonably priced. Normal face control and dress code are in force.

Open 7 days a week

Fidel Bar Kiev

Fidel
Maidan Nezalezhnosti
4b Grushevskogo Street
Tel:  +380 44 279 8 278
http://fidelbar.kiev.ua/index.php

This place could not decide if it were a bar or nightclub so it became both. Also serves food in the art-restaurant. Favourite of locals, unpretentious and down to earth. Situated at the arch at the Hotel Dnepr.

Ganesha Party Bar Kiev

Ganesha Party Bar

11a Artema Street
http://www.ganesha-bar.com/index.php

All about cosy corners small tables and comfy sofas. Ganesha is the Indian god of wisdom who is the patron of trade and travellers. It is one of those after party spots where you can carry dancing (on a very small dance floor) to a slightly less hard beat and enjoy a good atmosphere. Mainly frequented by young stylish arty type people floating away to the sound of hypnotic trance music. Great little place to get you through to breakfast.

Greenwich Disco Club Kiev

Greenwich Club
Shuliavska
49b Degtyarivska Street, Kiev

So you travel all the way to the Ukraine, you get yourself dressed up and you go out to party. You are at the Greenwich club, the doors open and you walk in to a British style bar/club complete with billiard tables and soft furnishing. Well if you are missing home and need familiar surroundings then this is the place for you.  Actually it is not too bad it has two large bars and a decent size dance floor but nothing to write home about.

Museum Club

Museum Concert Hall (Formerly Patipa)
Maidan Nezalezhnosti
10 Muzeyny Lane Kiev
Tel: +380 (44) 253 0150
http://www.museum-club.com/

Patipa - take a good club that was always busy then close it?
Difficult to understand why they changed this club. Maybe they are trying to compete with the other up-market clubs in Kiev but the concept looks flawed. It's not big enough and lacks the atmosphere of clubs like D'Lux and Avalon. Entrance as of June 2012 was 250 UAH and the prices of drinks were very expensive by Kiev standards. Situated just off the main street of Khreschatyk not far from the Dnipro hotel.

Pomada (Lipstick) Gay club
  Khreschatyk
Zankovetskoi Street 6 Kiev
Tel: +380 (44) 279 5552
http://www.pomada-club.com.ua/

During the day this is a European restaurant but by night it transforms into a gay club which is popular not only for Ukrainians but also for foreign visitors. This is a bit more up market than the Androgyne gay club but still manages to come across as a little bit tired and tacky.Thursday night is ladies night.
Open  7 days a week 18:00 to 06:00

Salminskiy Club
  Ploscha Lva Tolstoho
Baseynaya Street, 2 Kiev
+380 (44) 361 34 77
http://salminskiy.com.ua/

Centrally located and not far from the main street Khreschatyk. This is an elegant and chic club, not very large but tastefully furnished. Usual face control in operation so make sure you enter sober and smartly dressed, as you will probably leave at about 6am dishevelled and slightly drunk. Would suit the 20's to 30's crowd into house and techno.

Saxon Club

Saxon Club

Trutenko Street, Kiev,
Tel: +380 (44) 2574070
http://www.saxonclub.com.ua/

This is a little bit out from the centre but worth mentioning if you are a into the non-tourist student clubbing experience. Full of energy and moderately cheap prices make this a great place to party and have fun. Great place to go on Mondays and Tuesdays when other clubs are closed. Packed full of students dancing to great music played by some pretty decent DJ's.

So what is all the fuss about? This place seems to be highly favoured if you believe all you read. But this is the Ukraine and nothing should be believed until you see it for yourself - or take advice.

After reading all the rave reviews about this place I must say I was a little disappointed with what I saw. I was expecting quite a large club but in reality it is actually quite a small place situated on 3 floors.
The atmosphere is good and the dancers on the stage are lovely to look at but it is a relatively small dance floor. There is a large bar in the middle and the bartenders are all smiles, probably because you are spending money. Let me let you in on a little trick I noticed. You're a foreigner and you go to the bar. You order some drinks and you pass over the money. Then you wait, and wait, and wait! If you wait long enough eventually your change will arrive. Otherwise you kind of give up and let them keep the difference. This happened to me 3 times while I was there so it was not a one -off, and I suspect this might be something that happens a lot.

As this is a well-known haunt of foreigners and tourists it attracts some of Kiev's friendlier girls, if you know what I mean. It's open 24/7 and has a restaurant - so after all that dancing you can enjoy a nice breakfast.Thursdays is "ladies night", a must for both sexes.

Sorry Babushka Club

Sorry Babushka
Universytet
18/24 Dmitrivska Street
Tel: +380 44 486 03 00
http://sorrybabushka.com.ua/

Seems to be a favourite of Kiev's students and younger clubbers. Was originally called Sound Planet but has been rebranded and given a new lease of life. This club like many other clubs in Kiev tries to offer a variety of entertainment. On the first floor you will find Karaoke so if you have a one or two vodka's too many and fancy belting out a tune or two then this is the place for you. Otherwise make your way to the 2nd floor for a bit of rMetro disco 80's and 90's music.

Open 22:00 - 05:00

Tato Fashion Club
Shuliavska
Sofia Perovskoj Street 6/11 Kiev
Tel: +380 (44) 4561782
http://www.tatoclub.com.ua/en/about/address

Subtle this club is not. Most of the women here seem to have got dressed in a hurry and left most of their clothes at home. Not that the guys with their jaws dragging along the floor are worried too much about that. Erotic entertainment dressed up as a themed disco club.

Shows start at 22:30 until last customer

Tsar Project Club

Vodka Bar Kiev

Tsar Project
Maidan Nezalezhnosti
1b Grushevskogo Street Kiev 01030

Hello! Did I miss something?  Another club aimed at Kiev's rich and glamorous that have deep pockets and cash to burn. Tucked away up a steep alley in the very centre of Kiev this club makes no pretence to appear modest. It is built on part of the city's old underground water reservoir system under a hill top castle. Lavish and spacious literally dripping with chandeliers and sumptuous leather sofas.
It is a mixed crowd who share a common theme: money. If you are fortunate enough to get past face control you will find a parade of pretty things waiting for you to buy them glasses of champagne.

Music is middle of the road house with some euro disco thrown in for good measure.

Vodka Bar
Maidan Nezalezhnosti
Seperate entrance inside Globus Shopping Centre Independence Square
Tel: +380 (44) 371 1102
http://www.vodka-bar.com.ua/eng/

Stylish, modern Bar/club located in the very heart of the city. This is very popular with affluent fashionable locals and has a nice atmosphere. Claims to have one of the biggest selections of vodka in Kiev but also has an extensive cocktail and wine list menu.
Stretches over two floors and a summer terrace which is open in the summer. If you get a lttle hungry there are tempting Italian, Japanese and European dishes to tantalise your taste buds. This is a lively and enjoyable place that is open seven days a week and open from 12pm to 6am.

Xlib Club

XLIB
Kontraktova Ploscha
12 Frunze Street, Kiev
Tel:
http://www.xlib.com.ua/

Xlib (means bread) is a small venue situated in the Podil area of Kiev. Nothing to do with food but lots to do with underground cutting edge urban dance music.  It comprises of a lounge bar and a main dance room which is always full to the rafters on a Friday and Saturday with enthusiastic unpretentious in-the-know cool kids. Probably better to leave this one to the locals unless you're a serious clubber.
