Monument to St. Volodymyr
A new pedestrian bridge connects the People’s Friendship Arch with Saint Volodymyr Hill. The whole area around the St Volodymyr monument has been pedestrianised and new paved walkways built. There are a number of great viewpoints and panoramic platforms that look out across Kyiv (Kiev) and the Dnieper so don't forget the camera.
St. Volodymyr and Volodymyrska Hill
If you are looking for spectacular sightseeing views and a leisurely stroll around some of Kyiv's (Kiev) beautiful parks then this is exactly what you need. The monument of St. Volodymyr (Prince Volodymyr) is situated on Volodymyrska Hill in a large park located on the right-bank of the Dnipro River in central Kiev (Kyiv). You can easily incorporate this in with Friendship of Nations Arch. Just walk between the two parks Mariyinsky Park and Volodymyrska Park via the new glass bridge that connects them.
The monument depicts the Prince of Kievan Rus carrying a cross overlooking the river Dnipro. It can be reached by entering Volodymyrska Girka Park which is situated on the upper and middle terraces of Kiev hills. It is also possible to enter the park via the funicular. Take the metro to Poshtova Ploscha. The funicular is situated next to the exit of the metro. In ancient times Volodymyrsky Hill had the name of Mykhaylivsky Mount. It is situated in a very picturesque Park which is connected via a new glass pedestrianised bridge. Nearby is St. Mykhails Golden-Domed Cathedral and many other attractions. At the monument you will find a lovely view overlooking the river Dnipro, Trukhaniv Island and Darnytska.
